Core & Cavity Development

Simplify the design process of core and cavity geometry using NX's automated functions, which enable you to: Use automated shutoffs and parting of core/cavity based on manufacturability considerations, design parting surfaces quickly and associatively, split mold to accommodate complex slider designs, automatically check the core/cavity design for interferences.

Design Change & Propagation Control

Thanks to the associativity with the part model, NX mold design facilitates rapid propagation of design changes throughout the process, from tooling design to machining operations. Mold Wizard completely integrates Teamcenter PLM software to provide a single source of data and process knowledge, ensuring that the entire team work concurrently on the latest most accurate data.

Design Validation

Design validation ensures that parts, tools, and manufacturing processes have been correctly defined. You can analyze the manufacturability of designs using tools to check wall thickness, identify undercut regions, and evaluate corner radii. To validate the mold design, you can check the distances and reliefs in various positions, as well as analyze the requirements for electrodes. Designers can also extend mold longevity with analysis of resistance and detection of sharp corners. The motion simulation capabilities allow you to verify the entire range of movements of the mold, including dynamic collision detection.

Product Analysis

The design of the mold begins with the modeling of the product. You can import 3D part models from other systems, open any standard CAD files, or select parts designed with NX. Then you can easily model, make design changes, and analyze geometry to ensure desired design intent and manufacturability.

Mold Structure

Layout the core, cavity, component systems, and mold base for both prototype and production-scale multi-cavity molds. Configure the mold using libraries of standard parts, component systems, and mold bases. You can design associative sliders and lifters. Quickly add and trim ejector pins and insert cooling channels with parametric patterns. Include runners, gates, screws, pins, and other standard components.

Re-Use of Company Standards

Reduce tool development time by reusing the company's standards, including: Re-use preconfigured project templates, materials, tools and processes and adapt proven designs to new molds, accelerate and optimize the mold design process by standardizing processes and components, automate generation of parts lists, drawings, project data structures, and NC toolpaths. Create re-usable parts and save them in custom libraries, develop your own re-usable mold base configurations.
